Panasonic upgrade: the drive decides
Panasonic motors are used in e-bikes of many brands. For the upgrade only the installed drive matters. Here are the facts based on the shop’s information.
Does my bike fit?
What matters is the Panasonic drive from model year 2013, not the brand on the frame. You can usually identify the drive on the motor housing or in your bike’s documents. If in doubt, the shop checks for free beforehand.
What does the upgrade do?
- Motor support up to approx. 45 km/h, depending on the system
- The display shows your actual speed, no GPS app needed
- The original setting is saved, the upgrade is reversible at any time
- €69 for one bike or €119 for two bikes
How the activation works
- Connect the bike to your PC or laptop via Micro-USB.
- Open the activation link from the email in Chrome or Edge.
- Enter the license code. It takes a few minutes.
Smartphones and tablets are not supported.
Compared with other drives
Together with Shimano, Panasonic is one of the systems where the display stays correct after the upgrade. The overview of all systems is in our guide Display after tuning.
