iPhone, Android or PC: what do you need for the upgrade?
The most common question before buying: does the activation work with my phone or do I need a computer? It depends on the drive. Here is the overview based on the shop’s information.

I only have an iPhone
Then, according to the shop, the Ninebot/Segway upgrade fits best: it runs wirelessly in the browser, on iOS for example with the Bluefy browser. For all other systems you need a computer or an Android smartphone, and for Shimano explicitly no Apple device.
I have a Mac
With macOS, Bosch Gen 1–4 (Chrome or Edge) and Ninebot/Segway work according to the shop. For Shimano, iPhone, iPad and Mac are explicitly not supported, and for the Bosch Smart System the shop names Windows or Android.
How long does it take?
- Bosch Smart System and Bosch Gen 1–4: about 5 minutes
- Yamaha and Panasonic: a few minutes
- Shimano: up to 20 minutes because an update may run. Close the E-TUBE app first; you can keep using it afterwards.
- Ninebot/Segway: after every switch-off the scooter is back in 20 km/h mode and is reactivated in seconds with a button combination.
What do you get after buying?
The license code by email right after payment, plus activation link, instructions and personal support in German. There is no chip and no installation, and the upgrade is reversible at any time. License codes cannot be exchanged, so the free pre-check is worth it.
